Course Description

This course covers the special healthcare needs of patients with intellectual disabilities or mental retardation. Nurses will be able to provide examples of the characteristics some of these patients share. They will also be able to talk about issues nurses experience when caring for intellectually disabled adults, as well as how to improve healthcare for these patients.
