Alabama - AL
RN, LPN Requirement: 24 contact hours every 2 year renewal period prorated for the first renewal. For the first license renewal, earn four (4) contact hours of Board provided continuing education related to Board functions, the Nurse Practice Act, regulations, professional conduct, and accountability and one contact hour for each calendar month remaining in the earning period up to a maximum of 24 contact hours including the mandatory class. This mandatory course is provided by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Special Requirement: Nurses (RN and LPN) that are licensed by examination after October 1, 2002, are required to complete a four contact hour mandatory class: The Role of the Alabama Board of Nursing: Legal, Ethical and Practice Implications.   CRNP, CNM and CRNA must report six (6) contact hours of pharmacology continuing education for APN renewal, within the total contact hours required for RN license renewal. Alaska - AK
RN, LPN, ARNP Requirement includes completion of two of the following: 30 contact hours, 60 hours of uncompensated professional nursing activities, or 320 hours of nursing employment. Delaware - DE
RN Requirement: Licensed by examination:  30 hours every two years (after first renewal). Licensed by endorsement or reinstatement:  at least 1 year but less than 2 = 15 contact hours 2 years or more = 30 contact hours Licenses expire on February 28, May 31, or September 30 of odd years. Renewal requires attestation of CE completion and practice of at least 1,000 hours in the past five years or 400 hours in the past two years. LPN Requirement: Licensed by examination:  24 hours every two years (after first renewal). Licensed by endorsement or reinstatement:  at least 1 year but less than 2 = 12 contact hours 2 years or more = 24 contact hours Licenses expire on February 28 of even years. Florida - FL
RN, LPN, APRN Requirement: 24 contact hours every two-year renewal period. Special Requirements for all RN, LPN, APRN: One (1) contact hour is required for each calendar month of the licensure cycle, including: Two (2) hours of Prevention of Medical Errors Two (2) hours of Florida Laws & Rules Two (2) hours of Domestic Violence - every third renewal (every six years). This course is in addition to the required 24 hours of general CE for that renewal period. Two (2) hours of Impairment in the Workplace - every other renewal period. Kentucky - KY
RN, LPN Requirements: * Proof of earning 14 contact hours, OR  * A national certification or recertification related to the nurse's practice role (in effect during the entire period or initially earned during the period), OR  * Completion of a nursing research project as principal investigator, coinvestigator, or project director. Must be qualitative or quantitative in nature, utilize research methodology, and include a summary of the findings; OR  * Publication of a nursing related article; OR  * A professional nursing education presentation that is developed by the presenter, presented to nurses or other health professionals, and evidenced by a program brochure, course syllabi, or a letter from the offering provider identifying the licensee's participation as the presenter of the offering; OR  * Participation as a preceptor for at least one nursing student or new employee undergoing orientation (must be for at least 120 hours, have a one-to-one relationship with student or employee, may precept more than one student during the 120 hours, and preceptorship shall be evidenced by written documentation from the educational institution or preceptor's supervisor); OR  * Proof of earning 7 approved contact hours, PLUS a nursing employment evaluation that is satisfactory for continued employment (must be signed by supervisor with the name, address, and phone number of the employer included), and cover at least 6 months of the earning period. RN, APRN, LPN Requirement: 20 contact hours every two years. For APRNs with Prescriptive Authority, an additional five contact hours (at least) in pharmacology must be completed. Special Requirement: Nursing Jurisprudence and Ethics CE: Effective April 2014, every third renewal, nurses must complete a course on Jurisprudence and Ethics for Nurses Licensed in Texas. Effective September 1, 2013, nurses who perform a forensic exam on a sexual assault survivor must have completed basic forensic evidence collection training, or the equivalent education, prior to performing the examination; Board Rule 216.3(d)(1). This is a one-time requirement; therefore, nurses who perform forensic exams are encouraged to retain the certificate of course completion indefinitely. Older Adult or Geriatric Care.
