RN, LPN Requirement:
RNs and LPNs are required to complete 25 contact hours every two year renewal period. Effective for March 2018 renewals, a minimum of two (2) contact hours must be completed in pain and symptom management.

Special Requirement:
Beginning with the January 2018 renewal cycle, and all renewal cycles thereafter, licensees must have completed training in identifying victims of human trafficking that meet the standards established in Administrative Rule 338.10105.

Beginning January 1, 2022, individuals seeking initial licensure must have completed Human Trafficking Training prior to obtaining a license as a Nurse.

Licensees, or individuals seeking licensure, must complete training in identifying victims of human trafficking only one time. The Department may select and audit a sample of individuals and request documentation verifying the completion of the training.

Effective June 1, 2022, training on Implicit Bias is required as a condition for initial licensure or registration as well as license  or registration renewal. This training is in addition to any continuing education training required for your profession. Unlike  the human trafficking training requirement, this is not a “one time” training. Implicit Bias training is required every time you  renew your license.

Licensees seeking to renew their license must complete 1 hour of Implicit Bias training, while those seeking initial licensure are required to obtain 2 hours.
