Update: As of July 1st, 2019 this course is required to be completed through the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Iowa professionals who need to complete a mandatory child abuse reporting course can now meet that requirement online with CEUfast.
Since the abuse reporting law passed in 2001, licensing boards require any person who regularly examines, attends to , counsels, or treats dependent adults or children in Iowa to accurately document compliance with training requirements on abuse education and/or dependent adult abuse, upon renewal of licensure.
This includes any LPN, RN, ARNP or any other health professional licensed through the Iowa nursing board who has contact with children and/or dependent adults; they are all mandatory reporters.
The Mandatory Abuse Course requirement MUST be a course that has been approved by the Iowa Department of Public Health.
CEUfast’s course, Child Abuse: Iowa Mandatory Reporter Training Course, is approved by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Our course prepares Iowa professionals who come into frequent contact with children, to identify and respond to child abuse.
As a mandatory reporter, you must have the course requirement met at the time you renew your license. The abuse training has to be done every five years.
Remember, if Iowa professionals are selected for an audit of their continuing education, they must submit the course completion certificate or provide written documentation from their employer confirming that the licensee does not attend, counsel or treat children or dependent adults in Iowa.
