50 contact hours of continuing education is the requirement for one contact hour of continuing education required only for those Nurse Practitioners who prescribe controlled substances. This continuing education shall address controlled substance prescribing practices, signs of the abuse or misuse of controlled substances, and controlled substance prescribing for chronic pain management.

One of the following is required:

  • 15 Contact Hours of continued education and 640 hours of active practice within previous 2 years 
  • National Certification or Re-certification by a National Credentialing Body recognized by the Board
  • 30 Contact Hours of continued education
  • Completion of a Board-Approved Refresher Course

You must meet the following eligibility requirements to renew. Nurse Aides working in a non-nursing home setting are responsible for making sure their job duties qualify for renewal:
  • Performed at least eight (8) hours of nursing or nursing-related services for pay within your current registration/listing period.
  • The nursing or nursing-related services performed were delegated and supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN).
No continuing education is required for renewal. Please check with your facility/employer to ensure CEUFast courses are accepted.
