Below are details about continuing education and license renewal in Delaware. You can skip to your profession by selecting it from the drop down list above.
Delaware is one of the oldest states in the United States, and has a deep and rich history that goes beyond any other place throughout the country. It’s nickname, “The First State”, is seemingly fitting as it was part of the 13 original colonies in the American Revolution and became the first state to ratify the Constitution of the United States.
However, if you look deeper into the state’s history, you’ll find that it had some outstanding nurses who served in both World War I and World War II. At the state’s capital in Dover, a monument was recently erected at Legislative Hall, featuring a total of 17 laser-etched images of women who served in various roles throughout the military – nurses, soldiers, pilots, and others.
Some of the great nurses that the monument recognizes includes: Lt. Ruth Haddick Dorsman, an Army nurse during World War II, Elizabeth Lawton Cerchio, a Navy hospital apprentice during World War II, Mary Hodgson, a Red Cross nurse who served in France during World War II; three Army nurses who served in Vietnam, and Lt. Margaret Ann Secora Tos, an Army nurse in Korea.
All of these women fought bravely to protect their country, and the state of Delaware is honored to display their names and photos to reflect their accomplishments. Today, men and women continue to serve in the military as nurses and play a crucial role in our armed forces.
