To Renew an APRN license the applicant must show:
  • Graduation from an approved APRN program within the past 2 years; or
  • documentation of APRN practice for a minimum of :
    • 50 days (400 hours) in the previous 2 years: or
    • 120 days (960 hours) in the previous 5 years; and 
  • current certification by a national APRN specialty certifying organization; and 
  • current practice guidelines (if employed); and,
  • current collaborating provider agreement (if required).
Special Requirements
All office of Professional Regulation dispensing and prescribing professions, with a registration number form the US DEA, who have a pending application for a DEA number, or who dispenses controlled substances, shall complete at least two hours of continuing education for each full licensing period beginning on or after June 8th 2016 on the tops of:
  • the abuse and diversion, safe use, and appropriate storage and disposal of controlled substances;
  • the appropriate use of the Vermont Prescription Monitoring System;
  • risk assessment for abuse or addiction;
  • pharmacological and nonpharmacological alternatives to opioids for managing pain;
  • medication tapering and cessation of the use of controlled substances; and,
  • relevant State and federal laws and regulations concerning the prescription of opioid controlled substance.
