Every RN must complete NYSED approved infection control coursework or qualify for an exemption. Thereafter, each RN must complete NYSED approved infection control coursework every four (4) years, or, qualify for an exemption. 

Two hours of coursework or training regarding the identification and reporting of child abuse and maltreatment. This is a one-time requirement and once taken does not need to be completed again.

Special Requirements
Infection Control Coursework
Must complete NYSED approved infection control coursework or qualify for an exemption. Thereafter, must complete NYSED approved infection control coursework every four (4) years or qualify for an exemption. 

Child Abuse Reporting Coursework 
Before NYSED will issue you a limited permit or RN license, you must complete NYSED approved child abuse reporting coursework or qualify for an exemption.

Prescribers licensed under Title Eight of the Education Law in New York to treat humans and who have a DEA registration number to prescribe controlled substances, as well as medical residents who prescribe controlled substances under a facility DEA registration number, must complete at least three (3) hours of course work or training in pain management, palliative care, and addiction.  The course work or training must be completed by July 1, 2017, and once every three years thereafter,

New York Athletic Trainer (AT/AL)

To meet the professional education requirement for licensure as a certified athletic trainer, you must present evidence of receiving either A, B or C below.
A baccalaureate or higher degree from a program in athletic training that is registered by the New York State Education Department as licensure qualifying.
A baccalaureate or higher degree from a program accredited by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP), or the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
OR
A program, completed before July 1, 2022, that leads to a baccalaureate degree, its equivalent or a higher degree, in any major, and have completed as part of the degree program or in addition to it:
12 semester hours in the professional athletic training content area, which may include:
kinesiology/biomechanics;
exercise physiology;
infection control;
professionalism and ethics; and
prevention and care of athletic injuries (i.e., preconditioning, conditioning, reconditioning, recognition, assessment, therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercise, first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
9 semester hours in the human biological and physical sciences and social and behavioral sciences content area, which may include:
principles of human anatomy and physiology;
neuroscience;
nutrition;
pharmacology;
psychology and sports psychology; and
counseling, education, and communication skills.
1,500 clock hours of clinical or work experience in the practice of athletic training* supervised by:
a New York State Certified Athletic Trainer, or
a NATABOC certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).

Respiratory Therapist must earn 30 hours of continuing education every three years. Only 15 hours many be earned by informal self-study courses (internet courses). Formal self-study courses include courses where the instructor can provide immediately to questions and concerns. 
Special Requirements
