Minnesota Physical Therapist (PT)

Every two years, physical therapists shall obtain 20 contact hours of continuing education credits. Physical Therapists shall earn 3.0 CEUs equal to 30 contact hours.

Special Requirements

Two (2) of the 20 hours of continuing education each cycle shall be on professional ethics directly related to the practice of physical therapy.

Beginning January 1, 2019, when a license is renewed each year in compliance with Minnesota Statutes, section 148.73, a licensee must complete self-study and take a jurisprudence examination on the Board of Physical Therapy Practice Act, and receive a passing score as established by the board on an open-book examination. The examination may be retaken as many times as is necessary to pass.

Three years after the date of initial licensure and every three years thereafter, a licensed traditional midwife must complete a minimum of 30 contact hours of board-approved continuing education and attest to completion of continuing education requirements by reporting to the board. At least five contact hours within a three-year reporting period must involve adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation and either infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation or neonatal advanced life support.

Continuing education program topics may include, but are not limited to, traditional midwifery care in the prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum and newborn periods; assessing contraindications; care in emergency situations; ethics; and nutrition.
