CEUfast Accommodates Changes to West Virginia  CE Renewal Requirements?

February 2, 1016

(Lake City, Fla.) Last year, the West Virginia Board of Nurses announced that beginning with the October 31, 2015 renewal cycle, every registered nurse in West Virginia must complete 2 hours of continuing education credit related to mental health conditions common to veterans and family members of veterans annually.

West Virginia RNs must also complete: Best Prescribing and Drug Diversion Training for nurses who prescribe, administer dispense controlled substances.

These requirements must be completed by the renewal deadline, October 31 of every year.

Legislative codes SB 437 and Chapter 30-1-7a dictate that West Virginia RNs must complete 2 hrs of CE for Mental Health Conditions Common to Veterans and Their Families annually, and must also initially complete 3  hours of the Best Prescribing and drug diversion training CE  (then 1 hour each year after), provided the RN prescribes, administers or dispense controlled substances.

**If a registered nurse is initially licensed on or after November 1, they are only required to complete the Mental Health Conditions Common to Veterans and Their Families course and the Best Prescribing and Drug Diversion Training CE, if it applies.

You can explore these courses and complete the tests at CEUfast.com.
