Ohio Nurse Practice Act: 2-Hour Category A

2 Contact Hours, including 2 Category A Hours

Are you a nurse? How do you know? Only when you pick up the Nurse Practice Act (NPA) written by the state legislature of the state where you are applying for licensure can you know if you meet the specific definition of who may go by the title of nurse.

Anticoagulant and Fibrinolytic Therapy

2.5 Contact Hours, including 2.5 Advanced Pharmacology Hours

This course will simplify administering anticoagulant and fibrinolytic therapies by discussing the mechanism of action, the onset of effects, duration of effects, uses, dosing, adverse effects, and special consideration for each anticoagulant/fibrinolytic. Vital nursing care considerations, including patient education strategies, will be addressed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Obstetric Complications

This course equips participants to identify potential obstetric complications, differentiate between types of intrapartum complications, and determine associated risk factors. It also covers essential care for women experiencing complications and strategies for preventing them.

Cesarean Section Risks and Complications

1 Contact Hour

After completing this course, participants can identify the reasons for cesarean sections, recognize associated complications, and understand prevention methods. It also covers long-term risks and explores the psychological impact of cesarean sections.

Medical Records Documentation and Legal Aspects for CNAs

1 Contact Hour

This course helps participants understand the role of CNAs, resident rights, and dependent adult abuse. It also covers the consequences of malpractice and the requirements for medical documentation.

Annual Review Topics for CNAs and HHAs

2 Contact Hours

Upon completing this course, learners will gain the ability to discuss the Hospital's National Patient Safety Goals, explain patient rights, and implement strategies to improve environmental safety. Additionally, they will understand staff roles in emergency management and apply infection prevention methods within healthcare environments.

Ohio Law Governing Drugs and Prescriptive Therapy

2 Contact Hours, including 2 Advanced Pharmacology Hours and 1 Category A Hour

This course discusses the standards and conditions concerning the authority of advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) who are designated to prescribe drugs and therapeutic devices according to Ohio Laws and Administrative Rules.

HIPAA for the CNA

1.5 Contact Hours

After completing this course, CNAs will identify common HIPAA violations, understand how to avoid them, and define Protected Health Information (PHI). They will also know how to report violations, explain consent exceptions, and understand the legal consequences of HIPAA violations.
