Dry Needling in Patient Care

1.5 Contact Hours

Dry needling is an increasingly popular and widely used treatment for many orthopedic pain conditions. After this course, participants will know what dry needling is, how it is used to treat myofascial pain, indications for utilization, basic dry needling techniques, and safety considerations when using dry needling.

Clinical Management of Dengue Fever

1 Contact Hour, including 1 Pharmacology Hour

Upon completing this course, participants will know the presentation, management, and prevention of dengue fever to comply with the emergency order put in place by the Puerto Rico Department of Health.

Substance Use Disorder and Pregnancy

1 Contact Hour, including 1 Pharmacology Hour

This course provides an overview of substance use disorder (SUD) in pregnant women, covering key definitions and factors that may indicate possible SUD. It explores screening methods used for identification, the potential complications to both mother and fetus, and the treatment options available. Additionally, the course examines appropriate nursing care for pregnant women with SUD, ensuring comprehensive management throughout pregnancy.

Veterans' and Families' Mental Health

2 Contact Hours

This course explores the mental and emotional challenges faced by service members and their families, both during and after military service. It addresses the unique hardships veterans experience as they transition to civilian life, often intensifying their emotional struggles. By raising awareness, the course aims to provide insights into how to support veterans and their families in healing from the hidden wounds of service.

Newborn Assessment

1 Contact Hour

This course covers essential aspects of managing a healthy newborn, including routine care and nursing interventions. It highlights key risk factors for potential complications and provides guidelines for thorough newborn assessments. Additionally, the course explains when to contact a healthcare provider for abnormalities and offers strategies for comprehensive newborn nursing care.

Care of the Patient with Autism

1 Contact Hour

After completing this course, CNAs, HHAs, LNAs, LPNs, and MAs can learn the necessary skills to know how to care for a patient with Autism. With this course, participants will learn how to describe the characteristics of autism spectrum disorder (AD), outline effective communication strategies, describe how to manage sensory sensitivities, and more.

Mindfulness for the Healthcare Professional

1.5 Contact Hours

After completing this course, participants will learn about mindfulness principles, proposed mechanisms, and mindfulness strategies to incorporate with self-use strategies during patient care.
