Alyssa King DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, PMHNP-BC, CLC, CNE
Dr. Alyssa King has been a Registered Nurse since 2014. She has been working as the Nurse Planner and author for CEUFast, Inc. since 2021.
Dr. King is a four-time alumna of the University of South Florida (USF), earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2014, as well as her Post-Masters Nursing Education Certificate, her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (PNP), and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in the specialty of pediatrics in 2019.
Within her time at USF and throughout her education, Dr. King has held several leadership positions, been awarded multiple honors and awards, and has presented both poster and podium presentations. She has served as the Doctoral Nursing Student Organization (DNSO) president, served on the Bull Nurses Admissions Team, volunteered as a member of both the USF Health Service Corps and the USF Health Mentoring Group, and was instrumental in initiating USF's first White Coat Ceremony for graduate nursing students.
Dr. King worked as a Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) nurse for seven years at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital’s Level IV NICU. During her time at St. Joe’s, she participated in numerous committees including St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital NICU’s Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Committee and St. Joseph’s Children’s PPC Committee for improvement of patient care and outcomes as well as trained many NICU interns and new nurse. She also led a unit-wide EBP project that culminated in both a poster and podium presentation and resulted in a community sponsorship for the unit. She also obtained her lactation counselor (CLC) certification in 2018 to go a step further in providing breastfeeding support for the mothers and babies in her care.
Dr. King is very passionate about the educational development and career advancement of both future and practicing nurses. Dr. King joined the USF College of Nursing as adjunct faculty for the Undergraduate BSN Program in Summer 2020. At USF, she has taught both online didactic nursing writing-centric courses and clinical courses in both medical/surgical nursing, obstetrics, and neonatology/pediatrics. In late 2021, Dr. King became a certified nurse educator (CNE).
Dr. King also found her passion for psychiatry/mental health while working bedside during the pandemic. Dr. King completed the post-masters psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) graduate certificate program at the University of Miami in December 2022. Dr. King is now dual-certified as both a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) and a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP).
Dr. King has been a lifelong lover of learning and writing. This makes her particularly enthusiastic about her role as a Nurse Planner for CEUFast, Inc in authoring and developing continuing education enduring material. Dr. King has also celebrated her first few professional peer-reviewed publications of her work. Dr. King resides on the editorial board for the peer-reviewed nursing journal, Neonatal Network, as well as serves as a peer reviewer for other various professional journals.
