Controlled substances are powerful medications that must be prescribed and administered responsibly to reduce the associated risks. This course reviews the five schedules used to classify substances and how to safely prescribe them. Readers will learn the difference between physical dependence, psychological dependence and addiction as well as the risk factors for substance abuse. The course also examines substances like hydrocodone and tramadol in detail.
